Strengthening International Collaboration: Engagement with Pakistan Delegation

MSIA attended a private session with H.E. Mr. Jam Kamal Khan, Minister for Commerce of Pakistan, and senior officials, held in conjunction with the Pakistan–Malaysia Business and Investment Conference 2025 in Kuala Lumpur.
Also present during the meeting was Mr. Soon Lee Yeap, representing Oppstar Berhad.
On the same day, MSIA Executive Director, Mr. Andrew Chan Yik Hong, presented the Malaysian semiconductor ecosystem during the TechConnect session attended by the Pakistani delegates.
Strategic Context & Opportunities Highlighted:
- Penang already hosts Pakistani engineers in subcontract IC design and software development, demonstrating an existing foundation for deeper collaboration.
- Pakistan is launching a national initiative to train 7,000 IC design specialists annually, helping address the global semiconductor talent shortage.
- With lower ICT outsourcing costs, Pakistan offers a cost-effective and skilled talent pool for Malaysian companies—creating opportunities for strategic partnerships and joint ventures.
During the engagement, MSIA members also participated in B2B meetings, exploring potential partnerships, talent collaboration, and investment opportunities.
MSIA looks forward to supporting future engagements and strengthening Malaysia’s leadership in the regional semiconductor ecosystem.
