MSIA had a very engaging and productive discussion with the delegation from the Republic of Korea, led by H.E. Yeo Han-Koo, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE), Republic of Korea. The delegation included representatives from MOTIE, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, and KOTRA.

Joining MSIA were Fung Wei Chin, Oppstar Berhad / Anna Baweh, Intel Corporation, and Ahmed Zaki Moten, Micron Technology, representing Malaysia’s local and and diverse semiconductor ecosystem.

The Korean delegation expressed strong interest in understanding Malaysia’s E&E and semiconductor landscape, acknowledging the country’s growing role in the global supply chain. They also noted that Malaysia’s neutral and non-aligned policy serves as a strategic advantage — enabling the nation to turn challenges into opportunities and foster meaningful international partnerships.

At the same time, the Malaysian industry players expressed openness to collaborating with Korea’s major industry players, recognising the potential for shared innovation, technology exchange, and investment opportunities that can further strengthen the semiconductor value chain of both nations.

During the session, MSIA Executive Director, Andrew Chan Yik Hong, also presented the MSIA Silicon Malaysia Map to the Korean Trade Minister — showcasing Malaysia’s semiconductor capabilities, ecosystem strengths, and investment potential.
