MSIA Member's Briefing: U.S Section 232 Announcement on Semiconductors & Related Products

MSIA recently organised a briefing session with MATRADE, MITI and MIDA following the announcement of Section 232 on Semiconductors and Related Products. The session saw strong participation from MSIA members, who actively shared their perspectives, concerns, and preliminary feedback on the potential implications of the measure.
During the discussion, government agencies also acknowledged several areas within the Section 232 announcement that remain unclear and warrant further clarification, particularly in relation to industry impact and scope.
It was mutually agreed that MSIA will conduct an industry survey, with the support of MATRADE, MITI and MIDA, to gather more detailed feedback from members. The survey aims to better understand industry concerns and provide a consolidated input to support further engagement with relevant authorities.
